Ana Falú, a national of Argentina, is an architect and urbanist and an expert in gender and women’s rights in urban studies and housing policies. With experience in international cooperation, she was regional director of UN Women (previously known as UNIFEM) in the Andean Region and in Brazil and the Southern Cone Countries from 2002 to 2009. She was director of the Research Institute on Housing and Habitat (INVIHAB) at the National University of Cordoba in Argentina from 2009 to 2019) and director of the Masters programme on ‘housing and cities management and development’.
Ana is a scientific researcher at the National Scientific and Technological Research Council of Argentina CONICET and emeritus professor in architecture at the National University of Cordoba, Argentina. In 2012 she was nominated as gender expert in the Advisory Group for Gender Inclusion (AGGI) of UN Habitat and has been chair of AGGI since 2016. She is also coordinator of the Gender HUB of UNI UN-Habitat and chair of the Working Group on Women, Gender and Diversity of the Global Platform for the Right to the City. Ana has launched the LAC Regional Program ‘safe cities for Women, safe cities for all’ as well as other similar programs at regional level. Co-founder of the Women and Hábitat Network of Latinamerica, and of the Articulación Feminista Marcosur Ana is an activist in human rights and women’s rights.
Ana is an alumnus of Bouwcentrum in The Netherlands and Delft University.
