Mr. Ahmad Zaki Sarfaraz is the current Mayor of Kabul City. He earned his Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from Kabul University and was appointed an Associate Professor at the same faculty. Ahmad obtained his Master's degree in urban planning from the State University of New York at Buffalo as a Fulbright scholar and has more than 10 years’ experience working with national and international organizations.
Ahmad has served as technical and urban planning adviser at the ministry of urban development and housing, head of the urban research and training center, acting director of urban development affairs, and senior adviser to the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on urban development affairs.
