Ms. Christine Musisi has 23 years’ experience in the development arena and has served the United Nations in different capacities and in various countries at national and global levels. Prior to her appointment as the UNDP resident representative, Ms. Musisi was director of the external relations division at UN-Habitat responsible for global partnerships, communications, advocacy, and UN inter-agency and intergovernmental affairs. From 2012 to 2016 she was UN Women’s regional director for Eastern and Southern Africa and representative for Kenya.
Ms. Musisi has held other senior positions including deputy country director for UNDP Ethiopia, deputy head of the policy and technical cluster, and policy advisor at the UNDP regional service center for Eastern and Southern Africa. She has also been a policy and technical advisor for UNDP in Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. She has led innovative initiatives in local economic development, democratic governance, poverty reduction, social mobilization, civil society Empowerment, gender and development, business and private sector engagement, and development financing.
A Ugandan national, Ms. Musisi holds a Master's degree in gender analysis in development from the University of East Anglia, UK, a post-graduate diploma in rural extension and women from the University of Reading, UK, and a Bachelors degree business administration management from Daystar University College in Kenya.
