Dr. Peter Boswell is special adviser and a former general manager of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). His company specializes in business development based on industry and supply chain assessments and standards-based certification. Dr Boswell was born and educated in Kenya and received an MA and a PhD in materials engineering from Cambridge and MIT, respectively.
He carried out the simulations for the ground-breaking Limits to Growth report for his MIT minor requirement. He worked for the UNHCR in Burundi before starting his professional career in industrial process engineering as an Australian Research Grants Fellow with the Ford Motor, USA, and with Anglo-American’s Johnson Matthey, UK, as the principal engineer responsible for process engineering for automotive catalysts, fuels cells and rare-earth metals’ products.
Following joint projects with Battelle he joined Battelle-Geneva and with its withdrawal from Switzerland joined the European Physical Society as publications director, followed by FIDIC. Dr. Boswell is a chartered engineer, EurIng, and a member of professional materials engineering institutes. He is currently active in the Usitawi Network, a service organisation for sustainable development, a member of the ISO 37109 project developers guide task group, and a member of the Global Infrastructure Basel’s Expert Committee for the SuRe sustainable infrastructure standard.
