Ms. Ellen Woodsworth is an international speaker who uses a gendered intersectional lens to address urban issues, founder and co-chair of Women Transforming Cities International Society www.womentransformingcities.org. which is an online library of good practices in achieving the SDGs, CEDAW and the New Urban Agenda, and former Vancouver city councilor.
She coordinates the Hot Pink Paper Municipal Campaign to create women friendly cities and was on the social cohesion panel of Habitat III at the EU and North American Regional Conference in Prague. She has participated in expert group meetings of the UN Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights and on human rights and the New Urban Agenda. She organized queer consultation and the queer declaration for the New Urban Agenda.
Ms. Woodsworth has been a speaker at several international conferences including Smart Sustainable Cities, YoutHab, World Urban Campaign, the Women Friendly Cities Challenge panels at Habitat III, and World Urban Forum 9. She was the keynote speaker at the SFU gender and climate change conference.
She is a consultant and speaker for the NDI HerStory project in Iraq, BMW Foundation speaker on Female Leadership in Resilient Cities, and a consultant for the Canadian Institute of Planners, RailVolution, and Feminists Deliver.
