Seema is the managing director and founder of Land Capital Consultancy, which specializes in land policy and administration, surveying, mapping, geospatial services, valuation, projects development and management. With a body of knowledge built over 34 years of experience, Seema is arbitrator and expert at the GCC arbitration center, UAE Federal courts, Dubai courts, Bahrain courts and other institutions, and also an external consultant for World Bank Projects around the World.
She has been instrumental in furthering the regional geospatial and land-related industries on a macro level through strategic and technical advisor training and resource-building initiatives for many development projects in Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She has also worked closely with different major developers in the region such as Nakheel, Emmar, Damac, and Dubai Properties.
Seema is a member of the advisory council for the Global Partnership for Land Governance Assessment formed to consolidate efforts and lead research and policy dialogue. The Partnership brings together the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Bank, and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). She is part of a group of Arab consultants working on the land governance agenda in the Arab region with ESCWA.
She holds a PhD in international arbitration and a Master's degree in geographic and geodetic information systems (GIS) from University College London. She also has a post-graduate diploma in automated cartography from the International Institute for Aerospace Survey and Earth Science, ITC, Netherlands, an executive diploma in survey and mapping from East London University, and a graduate degree in survey engineering awarded by the University of Baghdad 1984.
A founding member of some top professional institutions, Seema has received a number of industry honors and awards in her field including the Gulf Engineering Union Award and Supreme Women Council Award as a pioneering female engineer. She has been active in a range of UN initiatives.
