Ms. Shikha Srivastava heads the Urban Habitat and Migration portfolio at the Tata Trusts, India’s largest and oldest philanthropic organization. Her responsibilities at the Trusts’ cover a range of urban issues – affordable housing, basic services, governance and internal migration. She leads regional teams who design interventions and undertake programme implementation in partnership with national and state governments, civil society organizations and academia. Recent programmes undertaken by the Trusts’ Urban Poverty Alleviation portfolio include the Odisha Land Rights and livable habitat programme, projects on sanitation service delivery and governance in Varanasi and shelter for migrants in Surat city. Grass root level Resource centres for service delivery to migrants as well as projects designed to reduce vulnerabilities of brick kiln and construction workers are other noteworthy projects being undertaken by the Trusts’ Urban Portfolio under her lead.
In a career spanning over two decades in the development sector, she has worked with various government and non- government agencies, prominent among these being the national ministries for Rural Development, Drinking Water and Sanitation, UNICEF and UNDP. Her areas of work in these agencies have ranged from disaster management, climate change, energy to affordable housing and basic services.
Shikha has been part of Government advisory groups on habitat and a member of the UNDP-GEF, Small Grant Programmes’ regional committees.
She holds a BA (Hons) degree from Lady Shriram College for Women and a post graduate degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, in addition to a graduate degree in Law and diploma in journalism
