Working on better cities for all - Unlocking local impact through strategic international partnerships and stakeholder collaboration

This joint exhibition booth will highlight the transformative power of partnerships and stakeholder collaboration in the urban development field. Achieving the best project outcomes hinges on effective international collaboration with diverse stakeholders. The IHS and its sister institute, the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), which is a partner at the booth – has hundreds of research and project partners worldwide. This highlights the importance of collaboration in global development. Together, IHS and ISS-EUR have a vast global portfolio of projects, and the success of our activities lies in building strategic alliances with government bodies, private sector companies, community groups, and non-profits. Visitors can explore real-life examples of successful partnerships in international urban development advisory and research projects at this booth. The booth will emphasize how to bring community-focused projects and research to life through inclusive and effective partnerships and stakeholder collaboration. The third booth partner, the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus-East Africa Research Network (LEARN) is a living example of successful international partnership. This multidisciplinary community is committed to fostering collaboration and driving impactful urban research by bringing together academics, policymakers, and practitioners from diverse organizations across Eastern Africa and Europe. This collaboration addresses research gaps in one of Africa's most dynamic regions, centring community actors while contributing to broader knowledge networks on African urban development. It bridges local insights with global urban practices. Within this exhibition, LEARN will showcase its latest research initiatives and training activities, illustrating how collaboration propels impactful research forward. The exhibition features recent activities that bring together academics, policymakers, practitioners, and civil society organizations from East Africa and Europe.
