The event will build on Arcadis’ forthcoming Sustainable Cities Index 2022 research report and provide an opportunity to explore the three demands of People, Planet and Profit across a 100 of the world's leading cities. It will discuss evaluating the status of sustainability of the world's largest urban areas and provide a platform for public and private sector speakers to discuss concrete action they are taking to increase sustainability, economic prosperity, and resilience in the cities in which they live, work and play. The session will use the report as a framework to evaluate urban sustainability that adjusts to consider the most currently relevant metrics and collates data to score each metric and develop an overall sustainability score for the city. Additional speakers proposed for participation include a UN-Habitat partner and a World Business Council for Sustainable Development partner. Speakers will discuss projects implemented or policies developed to accelerate action towards the UN SDGs and a Net Zero world, and actions to create a prosperous and equitable future for their cities' citizens. The session will also present a summary of the discussions held during an Urban Thinker's campus that focused on planning and implementing coastal resilience projects in urban areas.
The objective of the session is to present how both public and private sector parties are working to improve the quality of life for people around the globe and foster discussion on how these parties can align their objectives and combine their skills to maximize their impact in bringing positive change.
