Summary

Human Centered Design (HCD) is a process and a set of tools that places the people you are trying to serve at the center of the design and implementation process. It is a participatory process that combines a discovery research phase with a creative ideation design phase, and repeated testing, ensuring that user needs always lead the way. The HCD Process will be explained through an interactive training session, explaining all aspects under the HCD process, and how to use the available tools to address challenges in urban planning.

Objectives

In recent years, governments around the globe have recognized the huge potential of human-centered design (HCD) when it comes to the digital transformation and innovation of their administrations, from United Kingdom, Sweden, Singapore, Vietnam to United States. HCD is a problem-solving method and mindset that is geared to overcome adaptive challenges by involving human perspectives. By placing the users at the core of the design process, from the problem definition to the development and testing of prototypes, and by involving diverse stakeholders, in which HCD ensures that solutions are designed in an efficient, user-friendly and accessible way and meet the actual needs of the citizens. Key Objectives: Gain understanding of Human Centered Design (HCD) Understand how HCD can help in engaging youth and all segments of society in urban planning and service delivery. Get familiar with a few tools and methods of HCD. Get hands on experience with HCD.
