Summary

There is a pressing need to develop solutions for urban development holistically, especially for a core element of city-making: urban housing. The training event invites those eager to drive urban change and promotes urban circular economies, embracing solutions such as carbon-negative housing, local production, and green and blue planning. We believe that by engaging local action, myriad small-scale solutions to major challenges are possible.

Objectives

Participants will (1) gain a holistic understanding of intersecting small-scale circular economy solutions and innovative technologies. They will (2) learn from real-world cases such as the first self-supporting mycelium house, presented by the experts involved; and (3) engage in the active ideation and generation of solutions for circular economies, learning about carbon-negative housing and the integration of the urban poor in rapidly urbanizing contexts facing climate change challenges.
