This initiative was created in France more than 10 years ago. More than 500 Eco-District have now been awarded the label, including the design, construction and management of sustainable neighbourhoods in all types of areas.
The Eco-Discrict is based on a reference framework built around 4 dimensions. Each dimension is broken on 5 commitments.
Each commitment is broken down into concepts and questions to help to contextualise your answers. Each is refleting the quality of existing neighbourhoods to be renewed, renoved or restructured.
The main aim of this event is to present the Eco-District initiative.
Since 2012 and the first labelling campaign, the Eco-District approach and the French government's label have been the subject of numerous presentations to delegations and local authorities.
Several partnerships are underway with countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Romania, Tunisia and Senegal.
Theses countries or cities are looking for a flexible system, contextualised but demanding and ambitious to support cities and regions toward the ecological transition based on respectfull values, wathever the gender, faith and lifestyles.
The reference framework and the Eco-District can be this system, made available for all by France, adaptable to any context.
For example in Senegal, a partnership is being developed with the government to support the implementation of the national sustainable development plan. Tunisia wants to get involved in the same pathway.
Is it possible, in which conditions and ambitions? The answers will be given during this side-event.
1. Sharing values and building a common vision of cities and regions
2. Helping to provide sustainables solutions to urban expansion
3. Offering an operational approach to sustainable construction
4. Propose a flexible framework for an approach leading to resilient, inclusive, energy-efficient and creators of value neighbourhoods.
