The training offers the basic knowledge to analyse human settlements and the process of urbanisation with geospatial data and information systems.
The event aims to transfer competences for data-driven monitoring of urban development with data and indicators produced at OECD and the Joint Research Centre (Global Human Settlement Layer).
The training is useful for beginners and intermediate attendees as resources of different complexity are made available by the two institutions.
The objective is to train participants to use the open and free data and tools developed by the European Commission - Joint Research Centre (JRC) to support policy makers, city leaders, practitioners, researchers, and local communities.
The attendees will learn how to use JRC and OECD indicators to visualise and analyse sustainable urbanisation across the entire globe over time, and to build data profiles of cities using existing indicators.
