This event introduces a comprehensive approach to enhancing resilience in one of Catalonia's most diverse and challenging regions of Terres de l’Ebre. Emphasizing governance, economic, and territorial sustainability, this collaborative initiative between the Generalitat de Catalunya and UNHabitat's City Resilience Global Programme (CRGP UN-Habitat) undertakes a resilience diagnosis to identify risks, prioritize intervention areas, and develop actionable recommendations for sustainability. As part of this process, the project assesses the area's adaptability, identifies barriers to resilience, and explores opportunities to strengthen territorial systems. By mobilizing stakeholders, defining priorities, and crafting a roadmap for action, the project aims to build resilience in all its forms. For instance, it addresses both persistent stresses, such as gender inequality and unemployment, and sudden shocks, including natural risks and industrial hazards, ensuring an adaptive and holistic approach to resilience.
The event aims at sharing the research and undertaken and the knowledge generated with the project in Terres de Ebre with heterogeneous regions worldwide to foster the debate on the challenges and the need for resilience and the available tools for territories. The number of regions and cities invited to participate could be enlarged to maximise the exchanges.
