Ever greenwashed a project? If you're an architect, urban planner, or politician, probably! Join our humorous panel to learn how to spot and avoid greenwashing – because it’s time to get real about going green!
Greenwashing is a major threat to the climate crisis and sustainability challenges we face today. Some cities and Governments still believe in quick, easy propaganda without making any effort to make meaningful, long-lasting structural changes, which are not only low cost but have stood the test of time over decades to help develop sustainable cities. The sad reality we face today is where investors promise sustainable housing a green facade, but plan a garage for hundred SUVs in the Garage. These contradictions must be addressed. Companies, Investors, developers and tech Companies are approaching Cities with the promises of low-cost technical solutions.
The book "On Architecture and Greenwashing" by Meriem Chabani critically examines the construction industry's sustainability practices and the phenomenon of greenwashing. It challenges prevalent methods and presents alternative, genuinely sustainable architectural solutions. This publication is part of the RIOT series from the Institute of Architecture at EPFL, promoting research and innovation in the architectural field with a focus on ecological issues. The book aims to inspire architects and industry stakeholders to adopt more honest and effective environmental strategies.
