The Public Authority for Housing Welfare in the State of Kuwait plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainable urban developments through its efforts to implement Kuwait Housing Policies.
With the increasing demand for govrenment housing and to minimize the long waiting periods and governmental expenditure, new innovative policies have been implemented.
The new laws and policies goes in parallel with the new cities developments that target and achieve sustainability. Each city in Kuwait is designed providing residents with access to essential services and amenities, such as primary healthcare, supermarkets, police stations, food supplies, public parks, and schools of all stages. By prioritizing sustainable urban development, and including the private sector in the development of the new projects, the Public Authority for Housing Welfare is helping to build stronger and more resilient communities in Kuwait.
I summary, the event will shed light on Kuwait's new projects, laws, policies and efforts regarding housing and new cities developments and the efforts regarding UN SDG 11
Kuwait's future of inclusive and sustainable development will be determined in substantial part in urban areas, underpinned by smart solution. With almost all parts of Kuwait's people living in urban areas, smartizing process for city and urbanization in Kuwait would have a greater impact on the progress in implementation of its National Development Plan and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development towards the New Kuwait Vision 2035.
The Vision is to transform Kuwait into a global financial and commercial center where the private sector works to lead socio-economic activities, enhance competitiveness, and increase productivity while maintaining national identity to achieve balanced economic and human development. His Highness, the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah stressed that the role of the government of the State of Kuwait in achieving this vision is shifting from the role of the executor to that of the enabler such that the vision constitutes the fundamental methodology by which the state institutions work toward achieving the New Kuwait Vision 2035 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.
Mindful of this, a type of inclusive and sustainable development in line with the Vision 2035 that Kuwait is most likely targeting for will be determined not solely by government nor private sector, but by an integrated smart approach through collaboration between them.
