The Habitat Professionals Forum (HPF) will host an anticipated press conference on November 5th at the World Urban Forum, introducing their latest initiative, the International Participatory Charter. This significant launch represents a step forward in inclusive urban planning and sustainable development, aiming to ensure that the voices of all, regardless of social status, age, gender, or abilities, are heard and respected.
• International Participatory Charter of the HPF sets out the local action needed to ensure that the voices of all are heard, regardless of social status, age, gender, or limitations;
• It addresses the particular needs of Indigenous Peoples and the billion people living in informal settlements are addressed;
• The Charter ensures that the planning and development of towns and cities "Starts at Home” by setting 10 Principles and 15 Articles of “Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities";
• The Charter re-affirms the commitment by the built environment professionals and their organizations to implementing the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals;
• Governments and Organizations are urged to embed its Principle and Articles for collaborative engagement in all strategies, plans, policies legal regulations and programmes of action.
