In conjunction with the World Urban Forum 12, the Egyptian government in cooperation with WBG will launch the "Atlas of Sustainable Egyptian Cities," showcasing Egypt's commitment to sustainable urban development and climate resilience. This initiative builds on the Sustainable Egyptian Cities Initiative, emphasizing collaborative governance. Key stakeholders, including government officials and international partners, will engage in dialogue to share best practices, strengthen partnerships, and promote evidence-based policies for enhanced resilience in Egyptian cities.
The launch of the "Atlas of Sustainable Egyptian Cities" aims to achieve several critical objectives:
1. Showcase the Atlas: Present key findings and insights from the Atlas, highlighting its significance in informing urban sustainability and climate resilience efforts across Egyptian cities.
2. Foster Dialogue: Facilitate high-level discussions among government officials, international organizations, and civil society to exchange best practices and innovative solutions for urban sustainability challenges.
3. Strengthen Partnerships: Enhance collaboration among ministries, local authorities, and international agencies to effectively address the impacts of climate change on urban areas and ensure integrated responses.
4. Promote Policy Development: Encourage the formulation of evidence-based policies that align with national strategies such as Egypt Vision 2030 and the National Climate Change Strategy 2050, enhancing the resilience of cities to climate change.
