A Dialogue about port cities of Latin America, their challenges and perspectives to Urban Sustainable Development
The port cities of Latin America are home to a large portion of the region's population, establishing themselves as key economic, industrial, and commercial hubs that generate both urban and environmental impacts, giving rise to two spheres of governance and development: the city and the port. Global dynamics have enabled the rapid growth of these cities due to the convergence between economic activity and the opportunities it represents for their inhabitants. As a result, they have become strategic territories in both local and global contexts, participating in a new organizational architecture of port activity, where their success can also serve as a gateway to aligning economic prosperity with social needs and the conservation of ecosystems in a new era of sustainable urban development.
This event will promote a dialogue between latin american port cities and cities from other regions to highlight experiences that aimed for the construction of inclusive, sustainable, and innovative urban developments.
Promote a space for dialogue based on the experiences, challenges, and opportunities of port cities to encourage and foster the development of inclusive, connected, productive, and safe cities
