Interactive session with presentations and discussions about best practices of involvement of occupants to make energy renovations better, more inclusive and assure reduced living costs
The future of the sustainable housing provision lays in the existing residential building stock. The life span of existing neighborhoods has to be extended and the buildings should be made very energy efficient. At the same time the affordability has to be guaranteed. The involvement of the residents is key for a successful transformation.
In the ‘A Renovation Wave for Europe’ (2020) the ambitions and integrated policies of the EU were presented; 220 million building units need a deep renovation to meet the climate goals. At the same time the affordability of housing is under huge pressure, the costs of the energy transition make it even more challenging to provide both affordable and energy efficient housing. The New Bauhaus approach stresses besides the affordability also the inclusiveness of all people and the liveability of the neighbourhoods of the future
This event will discuss challenges and provide insights and good practices developed in the SHAPE-EU project (SHAPE-EU - The European Affordable Housing Consortium, https://shape-affordablehousing.eu)
The discussion will bring this in a world-wide perspective.
