In the era of rapid urbanisation and digital transformation, societies face unprecedented challenges and opportunities in urban environments. As urban centres strive to become smarter, more sustainable, and inclusive, the role of research and education is paramount in shaping not just cities, but the entire fabric of future society. This networking event aims to bring together diverse stakeholders to explore how urban research and education can contribute to building smart and sustainable societies in the digital age.

The event will facilitate in-depth discussions on how digital tools and emerging technologies can enhance urban research methodologies, data collection, analysis, and knowledge dissemination to benefit society as a whole. Participants will exchange ideas on leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and big data analytics for urban research and evidence-based decision-making that impacts societal development. Emphasis will be placed on identifying practical solutions and best practices for integrating these technologies into urban research and educational programmes, whilst ensuring equity, inclusivity, and community participation across all segments of society.

Recognising diverse urban contexts and societal needs, the event will encourage knowledge sharing on appropriate technologies and explore innovative collaborations between academia, industry, government, and community organisations.
