Join us to celebrate global initiatives advancing urban water resilience. Local leaders will share innovative approaches to leveraging water for climate action. Collaborate in the Innovation Lab and don't miss the Award Ceremony!
The event aims to celebrate and discuss local initiatives that enhance urban water resilience from across the globe that have been identified through the City Champion Challenge. Through this Challenge, the Water as Leverage Multilevel Climate Action Programme, seeks to promote a global network of cities committed to advancing urban water resilience. In the event, local leaders will demonstrate how they actively engaged urban stakeholders and civil society to leveraging water for an integrated and inclusive approach for local climate action in urban development.
Additionally, an Innovation Lab will be set up to facilitate the co-creation of knowledge between winners and participants, encouraging collaboration, innovative solutions, and reinforcing the application of the WaL principles.
The event will conclude with an Award Ceremony, announcing the winners of the 2024 City Champion Challenge.
The Jury will be composed by:

• Enrich cities to become urban water resilient: Showcase committed cities and urban leaders and engage cities globally in the WaL Multilevel Climate Action Programme.
• Understand local challenges and solutions: Provide a space to better understand the water resilience gaps and needs in cities, as well as innovative solutions from different contexts.
• Establish partnerships to upscale WaL: Forge impactful partnerships with partners under the framework of the WaL Multilevel Climate Action Programme, with the potential to develop a long-term collaboration and upscale the programme to increase the overall impact.
• Communicate about WaL and the WaL Principles: Communicate about the WaL Multilevel Climate Action Programme, its objectives and the WaL Principles, enhancing widespread awareness and understanding of the Programme and its vision for urban water resilience.
