African Cities Research Consortium
The African Cities Research Consortium has been researching systems, politics and urban development domains across 12 African cities, to identify and pilot inclusive approaches to urban reforms.
We have recently published synthesis reports across 8 urban development domains, in addition to the 12 focus cities. We’ve also produced an interactive database highlighting successful urban reforms across the African continent. We would like to use a booth at the Urban Expo to discuss our findings, insights and implications with WUF delegates.
The initial focus of the stand will be the interactive urban reform database, which provides detailed information on a range of successful urban reform initiatives across the continent. We will prominently display the visual map interface of the database (which can be seen here: https://african-cities-database.org/urc-record-index/) and use the various examples it contains to initiate conversations with delegates.
For delegates who are more interested in the depth of our research we will discuss (and provide QR links to) our recently published reports and briefings on the 8 urban development domains we have looked at (focused on various economic, built environment and social issues), as well as the 12 city reports we have recently published.
In addition to the core displays, we also plan to use the stand to host lightning talks, discussions and interviews with various researchers and civil society members who are involved with the ACRC project. We’ll also use the stall to help promote a WUF ‘voices from the city’ event that we are co-hosting with SDI.
