The Bartlett School of Planning, UCL

Habitat UNI

Habitat UNI Booth, contributions from the Bartlett School of Planning, University College London.

We propose two events for the Habitat UNI Booth, to share insights from work on sustainability from the Bartlett School of Planning (BSP). We offer two sessions, designed to be informative and engaging for people across the globe working in sustainable development. This will be of great interest because of the global reach of universities such as University College London (UCL), both in terms of teaching and research.

Our institution is based in London, but we are part of a community of scholarship, students, and alumni who are working for sustainable urban development, and directed by the SDGs. We want to share insights from our university teaching and the research that underpins it, with participants at WUF12 in the Habitat UNI Booth, as follows:
- An event on Teaching at BSP, UCL - we are educating international students who go on to be planners around the world, &
- An event on Research by staff and doctoral students at BSP, UCL - we are focused on the contribution of academic scholarship to the real-world challenges of sustainable urban development.

The proposed BSP, UCL events will consist of presentations and outreach activities focused on the educational and research work at the university that contributes to sustainable urban futures.

The events will be brought to WUF12 in person by two staff members from the BSP, UCL, who will promote learning from the event. They will animate and engage with the audience, and they will seek feedback on the learnings. After WUF12 they will take these learnings forwards to inform and help shape further events on crisis recovery planning, including an online public event, which will be timed to be part of World Town Planning Day.
