Nature-based playground

The Nature-based playground (outdoor pavilion) is an interactive booth to exhibit the potential applications of Nature-based (NbS) materials in circular construction. This pavilion promotes the use of bio-based building materials in housing construction, and their feasibility to help decarbonize the building sector while promoting circular practices and tapping into local supply chains. In addition to being built from local, natural materials, the pavilion showcases innovative ways that practices from across the globe are applying regenerative and bio-based practices in housing construction.

The pavilion is a dynamic structure with zones to showcase enterprises already paving the way with biomaterials in construction, showcasing real-life examples, as well as a literature bank. The pavilion is simple and modular in its design, allowing for a flexibility of space where its components - such as seating elements and interactive mapping boards - can be moved, stacked and adjusted depending on what format is needed.

The Nature-based Playground provides a shaded gathering and breathing space for participants of WUF, who can take a rest under the shaded cotton canopy, lounge on stools made from mycelium, and learn about the biomaterial in the reading corner. Visitors can contribute to the mapping boards, spark new connections and learn about real-life enterprises and practices around the globe that are working with biomaterials in construction.
