German University in Cairo (GUC)

Habitat UNI

Our organization is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions that leverage urban voids as catalysts for regeneration while honoring the historic and cultural significance of our spaces. Through our exhibit, we aim to showcase two key initiatives: a workshop focused on transforming urban voids into vibrant community hubs and a proposal for urban block design that respects intangible heritage values. Through interactive experiences and educational resources, our exhibit will facilitate a meaningful learning journey that empowers individuals to contribute to a sustainable future.

The exhibit will be structured around the themes of urban regeneration and heritage preservation, emphasizing how both initiatives contribute to sustainable urban development.
o Section 1: Urban Voids as Catalysts for Regeneration
This section will display the outputs of the collaborative workshop, where participants explored innovative uses for urban voids. We will present design concepts, visualizations, and narratives that illustrate how these spaces can be transformed into vibrant community assets, fostering economic and social dynamism while respecting local heritage.
o Section 2: Heritage-sensitive Urban Block Design
This area will feature the urban block design proposals developed by GUC students. It will highlight the importance of integrating intangible heritage values into urban planning, showcasing how thoughtful design can enhance community identity and cultural continuity.

Interactive Screens and Presentations:
o We need an interactive screens displaying the workshop outputs, including videos, design sketches, and 3D models. Visitors can explore these materials at their own pace, gaining insights into the collaborative design process and the potential impact of these projects.
