Morocco has experienced a steady increase in its urban population, this increased urbanization combined with the demographic growth experienced by the country generates various spatial, social and economic consequences.
To meet these challenges, and in order to promote a sustainable and inclusive urban development, Morocco has undertaken substantial reforms, thus contributing to the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the sustainable development goals.
This exhibition will highlight the Moroccan experience rich in lessons learned in terms of implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and New Urban Agenda, it will present the progress made in sustainable urban planning, urban upgrading, promoting affordable housing and tackling substandard housing. It will also shed light on the efforts undertaken in the preservation of ancient fabrics as well as resilience and climate action at the city level.
Furthermore, it will focus on the importance of localization, showcasing specific local actions and initiatives that demonstrate effective collaboration among stakeholders.
In addition to showcasing Morocco's significant progress in sustainable urban development and SDGs, this exhibition will serve as a platform for dialogue and mutual learning. As Morocco has navigated its journey towards sustainable and inclusive urbanization, it has garnered a wealth of insights and strategies that can benefit other nations facing similar challenges.
The Moroccan stand will provide an exceptional opportunity for representatives from various countries to engage directly with the Moroccan experience. The aim is to foster a collaborative environment where countries can share their successes and learn from each other's experiences, ultimately enhancing global efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and implement the New Urban Agenda effectively.
