Accelerating spatial transformation in cities of the global south

It is important to note here that Platform 100 is a non profit and we would need sponsorship (Ito the rental costs) in order to set up our exhibition. We will

We will showcase:
1. The implementation of projects to promote new thinking and practice in the Built Environment with a specific focus on urban spatial transformation (this will span PHYSICAL, POLITICAL and SOCIO-ECONOMIC drivers which could be harnessed towards achieving spatial transformation) - showing events, publications, public engagement, government and industry partnerships that have emerged from this project, many culminating in tangible outputs. These are mostly on-going, multi-year initiatives. These tools have been communicated in scientific publications but also in mainstream media as a part of an effort to generate greater buy-in and involvement in re-directing spatial practices in cities.
2. How case study analysis, design tools as well as visioning tools to develop imagery for a more equitable future at city and neighbourhood level have been conducted; this has been achieved in multiple ways mostly through a study of City contexts in Africa, Open Building projects in the global south as well as Universal Design tools in South Africa. There are tangible outputs to each.
3. We will show how we have established partnerships across disciplines, with a focus on the Built Environment professions; good progress has been achieved; building bridges (with organisations and people), establishing joint projects, diversifying the team members, establishing trust with communities as part of our Community Engagement work, deep involvement and influence in professional bodies.
4. How we have disseminated information through various platforms and to various stakeholders in these topics; great strides have been made to systematically take spatial transformation conversations into the public domain, this is an on-going project. Our efforts have gone beyond the borders of South Africa into Africa and globally.
