World Cities Day, established by the United Nations, aims to strengthen cooperation between UN-Habitat, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and local governments such as Shanghai, to promote the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda. Over the past ten years, World Cities Day has become an important platform for cooperation and exchange. Through side events at the World Urban Forum (WUF), exhibitions, and global observances for World Cities Day, as well as the joint compilation of the Shanghai Manual: A Guide for Sustainable Urban Development in the 21st Century, and the establishment, solicitation, and presentation of the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award), the development and application of the Global Urban Monitoring Framework - Shanghai Adapted Index, Shanghai and UN-Habitat have made significant progress in strengthening partnerships and integrating more city partners to jointly achieve sustainable development goals.
The theme of this exhibition is tentatively set as "Joint Actions for Accelerating SDGs Implementation via the Platform of World Cities Day", showcasing content related to
World Cities Day (ten-year achievements of World Cities Day, the Global Award for Sustainable Development in Cities (Shanghai Award), the Shanghai Manual: A Guide for Sustainable Urban Development in the 21st Century, and the Global Urban Monitoring Framework - Shanghai Adapted Index).
