Shanghai University
Around the theme of "Urban Regeneration," we have introduced four fundamental concepts of "Inclusive, Interlinked, Intelligent, Identity" (the 4 I's) in this exhibition to emphasize current explorations into paths, methods, and objectives of urban regeneration. We have structured the exhibition into four sections: "Knowledge Generation, Education, Practice, and Transformation," each dedicated to illustrating the essence of the 4 I's. These interconnected sections are designed to showcase and interpret the concepts of “Inclusive, Identity, Interlink, and Intelligent” across various stages of urban regeneration through diverse displays and interactive mediums. Our goal is to fully engage visitors and deepen the understanding of and discussion on urban regeneration. Each section has its unique focus, serving different aspects of urban regeneration. Education Section highlights a collaborative research and teaching initiative between Tongji University and Shanghai University aimed at refining the teaching curriculum and design studios. This initiative explores the opening of Chinese universities to share public services and foster new dynamics. In the Practice Section, ‘Best practices’ around the world are selected to address empirical challenges reflecting the 4 I’s at various scales. The Transformation Section utilizes the ‘UN-Habitat & SHU Best Practice Selection’ as a pivotal platform to encourage global exchanges and empirical lessons, contributing significantly to the generation of new urban regeneration knowledge, the core section, that supports achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the main objectives of the new urban agenda (NUA).
