University of Pavia - Architecture and Urban Design Lab

The exhibition of University of Pavia will present the multidisciplinary research projects and initiatives lead by the Architecture and Urban Design Lab (AUDe Lab) with a focus on architectural design as a process to create and regenerate environments. Moreover, AUDe in their educational curriculum and research agendas is strongly linked to the SDGs and the aims of the WUF - UN-Habitat. In Detail AUDe exhibition can provide significant contribution around three main scope and challenges: (1) from sustainability to regenerative challenge, (2) technological transition and inclusion, (3) social innovation, which all of them resonate well with the core values of the WUF.
Videos and infographics will present to the public three selected key ongoing activities that can be summarized as follows:
(1) Rural Architectural Intensification is innovative research by design project for architecture and landscape design in rural areas. Rural crisis is a global problem. This project is applicable for design the regeneration of the contemporary rural areas into uses that are suitable for contemporary ways of living through the construction of a new paradigm that will shape an architectural project committed to resilience and sustainability. https://www.raintensification.com
(2) Socially Situated Architectural Pedagogies. It involves other academic European partners such as UMA, ITU and TU Delft. It takes into consideration current state of art on architectural pedagogy including radical and critical pedagogies and acknowledges potential contributions by situated forms of pedagogy as well as commoning in education. www.sarpe.org
(3) The research “Design of sustainable public spaces” deals with innovation in the design of collective open spaces. This research intends to promote new strategies for the design of open spaces in relation to climate change with particular reference to medium-sized cities. https://aude.unipv.it/sustainable-public-spaces/.
