Urban Transitions Mission CENTRE
The proposed stand represents the Urban Transitions Mission (UTM), which currently involves six pioneer cities in Africa, i.e Casablanca and Chefchaouen in Morocco, Sisseb Dhriaat in Tunisia, Accra in Ghana, Cocony in the Ivory Coast, and Quelimane in Mozambique.
It seeks to increase awareness and mobilise decision makers across all government levels to prioritise climate-neutral and net-zero pathways enabled by clean energy and systemic innovation across all sectors. By accelerating capacity building and closing the gap between research, development and deployment, it supports and empowers cities to adopt innovative solutions and help reach tipping points in the cost and scale of those solutions for urban transitions.
The stand is run by the UTMCentre showcasing a global platform that promotes urban sustainability and facilitates climate-neutral transitions.
It addresses DIALOGUE 2: Cities and the climate crisis, DIALOGUE 3: Stronger together, and DIALOGUE 4: Financing localization and localizing finance in the following ways:
1.Cities and the climate crisis
Highlighting innovative urban case studies and net-zero solutions worldwide and focusing on the six African cities in the UTM cohort
2.Partnership and international collaboration
Showcasing international initiatives such as the Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) or the Long-Term Joint European Union - African Union Research and Innovation Partnership on Renewable Energy (LEAP-RE)
3.Finance and localisation
Displaying the global platform including the Knowledge Repository with its data on Finance and Funding, the Funding Watch with its global opportunities on funding and finance, as well as access to the Finance cluster group for networking and knowledge exchange.
