Act globally and act locally together - empowering the world and China for a better future

Our exhibition aims to deliver a strong message: “Sustainability is no longer a blueprint strategy for the future.” There is no choice but to move forward through ‘actions’ in every possible way, locally and globally, as the boundary between the two is seamless. Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), a Sino-British cooperative university located in China, will showcase our global commitment to ‘Stronger Together’ towards urban future under the title of “Act Globally & Act Locally together”. Under the 5 focuses (Sustainable regeneration and revitalization, Green and smart cities, Digital design for enhanced human environments, Sustainable and advanced materials, and Social innovation), the exhibition content is twofold:
(1) XJTLU, as an international university in China, acts on global crisis: Global impact on equitable futures through UN-Habitat platform; and Partnerships on impactful action together with industry and international organizations. (2) XJTLU, as a Chinese university recognized internationally, acts on China’s sustainable development: Unique approaches to Education for Sustainable Development; and Delivery of locally contextualized global climate actions through China-global connections. We also present a report just published with UN-Habitat.

Exhibition will provide a multi-functional space: First, "informative space", in which Departments of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Industrial Design and Urban Planning and Design, as leading transdisciplinary educational institutes, showcase XJTLU’s future-proof commitments to global-local challenges through innovative transformation (i.e. urbanization transformation; technology and product transformation) with a wider range of projects and deliverables; Second, “engaging space” for collaboration, in which we actively seek for potential collaborators (Industry, public, private) beyond East-West boundary; and Third, “interactive space”, in which various sustainability innovation will be established
