Lujain Romouzy

Lujain Romouzy, a 19-year-old dentistry student, gained recognition at just 16 for her contributions to sustainable technology. She won 1st place in the Tatawwar Sustainable Innovation competition, powered by HSBC, for her microplastic filter that removes microplastics from 1,000 liters of water for just $1.80. This filter is set for installation in the Red Sea. At COP27, Lujain delivered a powerful intervention at the UN Youth Roundtable, earning a standing ovation from Antonio Guterres and helping establish the Global Youth Coalition, where she serves as Co-Founder and Vice Chair. Through the GYC, she has educated 15,000 young people about climate negotiations in partnership with Oxford University. Additionally, she launched R4P, a program using filmmaking to promote nature-based solutions. Lujain's dedication has made her Egypt's youngest negotiator, representing youth on the National Youth Advisory Committee, with a focus on Loss and Damage.
