Matthew Cottam

Matthew Cottam is the Founder & Principal Designer of Tellart, where he shapes the company’s strategic direction and creative practice. He is an internationally recognized speaker and professor of design, currently a faculty member at the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID). He previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the Umeå Institute of Design (UID, Sweden) and was a faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD, USA) for ten years. Matt holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Industrial Design from RISD, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Interaction Design from Umeå University. In addition to his design career, Matt has been an Advanced Life Support Paramedic with the U.S. federal disaster medical team and a National Ski Patrol member. He is also a Yachtmaster Ocean (RYA) and Rescue Diver (PADI). An avid sailor, Matt has participated in numerous trans-Atlantic ocean races.
