Ming Zhang
Ming Zhang is the Global Director for the Urban, Resilience, and Land Global Department at the World Bank, where he leads global knowledge initiatives, promotes innovative leadership, and ensures client impact and global partnerships in sustainable urban development, disaster risk management, and land. These areas encompass around $36 billion of the World Bank’s investment portfolio. Since joining the World Bank in 1997, he has held various leadership roles, including Practice Manager for Urban, Resilience, and Land in South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and East Asia and the Pacific. Earlier in his career, he served as team lead on urban development, infrastructure, and local government. Ming holds a PhD in City and Regional Planning and an MA in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BA in Geography from East China Normal University in Shanghai.
