Simonas Gentvilas
Minister of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania since 11 December 2020 and a member of the National Parliament (Seimas) since 2016.
Mr. Gentvilas was born on 28 September 1984.
Educational background
Mr. Gentvilas graduated from a gymnasium in Karlskrona, Sweden, in 2004. He continued his education in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Austria and Spain. Mr. Gentvilas holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Oslo (2005-2007) and a master’s degree in Urban Development from the University of Vienna (2008-2010).
Career development
After returning to Lithuania in 2011, Mr. Gentvilas served as an Advisor to the Mayor of Klaipeda (2011-2015). He was elected to Klaipeda City Council in 2015 and served as a Chairman of the Klaipeda City Development and Strategic Planning Committee.
