Summary

This innovative experiment results both from a desire to coexist with given realities and to strive for excellence in doing so.

Salmani Architecture has, over time, been distilled into form and content, which has since acquired a prominent place among the various architectural styles of the world. The Charter embodies a deep value system and a relentless quest to keep human societies alive and in communication with changes occurring in the world.

Throughout its chapters, the Charter endeavors to put humans at the center of every architecture stage. For this to happen, it was necessary to emphasize that the design team should show flexibility, adaptability, rich imagination, and the ability to solve problems — in short, to be creative.

Objectives

The Charter aims to define King Salman’s architectural vision.

This vision considers authenticity the essence of creativity and advocates a flexible approach to novelty. It also stresses the need for discernment, which involves looking beyond the limits of time, place, and materials to see the tremendous aesthetic contributions behind them.

Additionally, the event seeks to:

  • Showcase how the Charter’s past, present, and future will help guide the urban design and achieve excellence and enhance the quality of life.
  • Identify the values that were inspired by the journey of King Salman bin Abdulaziz in Riyadh over decades and how to define them as values for a charter that guides design for urban solutions that is yet human-centric.
  • Define how the design process absorbs the guidance of all six values, resulting in a design that will be of great importance to its constituents.
