The event is intended to share knowledge and experiences on climate change adaptation project development and implementation in human settlements in Asia and the Pacific, especially Cambodia, Pakistan and Viet Nam. Country offices in Cambodia, Pakistan and Viet Nam has successfully developed climate change adaptation project and the projects were funded by Adaptation Fund. As of being funded by the Adaptation Fund, project teams of three countries will host a section to share the theory of eco-human settlement and its practices which are adopted for vulnerable areas to the impact of climate change. Eco-human settlement and climate change adaptation are an important opportunity for country members and participants at the event to learn and discuss and probably apply in the next yearly rounds of the projects’ implementation. The event will be divided into two parts: Part I (1 hour) – Knowledge sharing on eco-human settlement and climate adaptation enhancement in the most vulnerable areas. This part will be composed of speeches and presentations from countries members. Some visual communication products including videos, leaflets, brochures, case studies and project’s brief of outcomes may be exhibited. The governmental commitments and initiatives to promote climate change adaptation in vulnerable areas will also include. Part II (30 minutes)– Open discussion: This part will be a discussion among country teams and participants. The discussion aims to figure out the best practices and propose solutions to extend their impacts and replication within each country and to other countries having coastal lines.
Objectives
By sharing knowledge and experiences on ecological human settlement in vulnerable areas to the impact of climate change to support climate change adaptation, in Cambodia; Pakistan and Vietnam, the event aims to: - Identify good practices of human settlement supporting climate resilience and adaptation from and for country members. - Discuss the feasibility of adopting those practices in each country. - Set up communication channel and mechanism between country teams to learn and share their good lessons and practices.
