The Riyadh Region Municipality, in collaboration with the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI), Secretaría Distrital del Hábitat | Hábitat Bogotá, and Secretaría Distrital de Planeación presents a Voices from Cities event proposal for the 12th round of the World Urban Form. This event underscores the transformative potential of data-driven Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions in shaping the future of urban governance within the context of the forum’s theme, "It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The "AI for People-Powered Cities" event leverages the combined expertise of Al Riyadh Municipality, AUDI, and the Secretaría Distrital de Planeación in promoting sustainable urban development and habitat human-centered planning globally. Building on the organizers line of work, this event explores the potential of AI applications in bridging the digital divide through citizen-driven sustainable urban solutions. It moves beyond traditional approaches by leveraging data to empower citizens and build inclusive, livable, sustainable communities drawing inspiration from scholarly works and technological advancement in the realm of urban planning. By showcasing solutions that are accessible and affordable, the event demonstrates how AI can empower all citizens to participate in shaping their communities.
The “AI for People-Powered Cities” event targets urban planners, policymakers, academics, researchers, civil society organizations, NGOs, representatives from municipalities, invested technology innovators, and community leaders. Through practical exchange and AI applications in the urban context, this event aims to spark dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and harness the power of AI for building people-centered cities. For maximum engagement, the event format will include:

- Case 01: The Riyadh Municipality Case (Saudi Arabia): an optimized Urban Solution.
- Case 02: The Case of Chatico (Colombia): a generative AI tool developed in Bogota that introduces a new model for inclusive governance and amplifies citizen voices.
- Case 03: The LA GeoHub Case (United Stated of America): first-of-its kind data management solution integrating geospatial information across city of Los Angeles departments with civic accessibility

Each case presented will encompass the targeted users, data collected and analyzed along with the findings. By focusing on these elements, this project-oriented session ensures to provide valuable insights for the attendees interested in leveraging AI for citizen engagement in their cities.
(1.) Revolutionize Citizen engagement for sustainable cities through the exploration of how AI tools, like Chatico, can empower citizen to actively participate in shaping sustainable and equitable urban decision-making processes
(2.) Advocate for responsible data governance, start the conversation, and raise awareness about digital practices through the promotion of responsible data use and ethical AI implementation in cities.
(3.) Facilitate Collaborative Governance Models among diverse stakeholders by opening the dialogue to identify shared challenges and opportunities and co-create models that address the needs of their communities.
