Summary

Urbanisation is a global phenomenon that presents both opportunities and challenges for cities around the world. As cities continue to grow, urban justice issues are becoming increasingly important. Urban justice encompasses a wide range of issues, including social, economic and environmental dimensions, and is crucial to creating inclusive, equitable and sustainable cities.

More than half of the world's population lives in cities and this number is likely to increase to more than two-thirds by 2030. Cities consume a large share of the world's energy supply and are responsible for about 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Energy-derived greenhouse effect, which absorbs heat and causes global warming. Cities in developing countries also face barriers to accessing climate finance, including a lack of attention to cities as a strategic priority.

This event aims to explore the challenges and opportunities related to achieving urban justice in the context of sustainable urban development in Africa and Latin America. In addition, this event aims to foster dialogue between key stakeholders from Egypt, China, UCLG Africa and Mexico to exchange experiences, lessons learned and innovative approaches in promoting urban justice.
