The Global Alliance – Cities4Children is an alliance of 28 organisations working together to ensure that urban areas are better for children and young people. Over the last 4 years, since Cities4Children was established, we have built and curated a knowledge hub of publications, tools, resources, practical guides and trainings on a wide range of subjects relating to children, youth and cities. The knowledge hub now has search and filter features that allow any practitioner, activist or local government to find resources by subject, city or any other term.
The knowledge hub hosts:
1. All guidance material from member organisations of the alliance is relevant to children, youth, and cities.
2. Pertinent guidance material from other organisations relevant to children, youth and cities.
3. The Cities for Children and Youth Research Series of the Alliance: This includes a range of publications commissioned and published by the Global Alliance - Cities4Children on issues affecting children and youth in urban areas and ways to improve cities for and with children and youth.
Through this event, we aim to present and disseminate key research focused on children and youth in urban areas. We also hope to inspire action by showcasing inspiring initiatives and strengthening collaboration among researchers, practitioners and other stakeholders.
The planned flow of the event:
1. Why Cities for Children? A short presentation
2. A tour of the Knowledge Hub and Blog of the Global Alliance. This is the central repository with all member publications and guidance.
3. Highlight: Key publications from our member organisations
1. Provide a guided tour of www.cities4children.org, the central repository of publications, research and guides to create better cities for and with children. This is where the material of the 28 members organisations can be found. This is a shortcut for any practitioner or local government to find all resources on a subject, rather than having to go through an extensive search through the websites of 28 different organisations.
2. Disseminate Knowledge: To share critical research findings and innovative practices highlighted in the ‘Cities4Children and Youth’ series and in key publications from Cities4Children members with a global audience of urban stakeholders.
3. Inspire Action: To share evidence-based ideas for action from cities around the world to inspire stakeholders to implement evidence-based strategies and initiatives that support sustainable urban development focused on children and youth.
