This proposed event aims to present efforts produced by various stakeholders including Arcadis, the City of Douala, the Municipality of Dibamba, the Urban and Rural Land Development and Equipment Authority – (MAETUR) and UN-Habitat to regulate the activities along the river and to promote a harmonious and sustainable development of the littoral Region in Cameroon. The session will allow the panelists to express their opinions on the achievement of the balance between the activities carried out in the river and the protection of its living ecosystem.
Participants will gain insights into good practices, actionable strategies and innovative approaches that can be replicated and adapted in various similar contexts beyond Cameroon. The event will emphasize the role of local actions in driving sustainable urban development.
Overall, the event aims to inspire and empower participants to leverage integrated river resource management for sustainable urban development from the local communities to the global level.
