Summary

The Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI) and Metropolis invite policymakers and urban leaders to a networking session at WUF 12. This session will explore the transformative power of collaborative knowledge-sharing platforms in advancing inclusive, sustainable, and resilient urban development at a global scale.

In today’s complex urban landscape, aligning efforts to maximise the vast body of urban knowledge has never been more crucial. Cities and policymakers are generating valuable data and solutions that, when shared and applied strategically, can lead to more effective governance and significant improvements in quality of life. This session will highlight how cities can flourish by exchanging successful practices, forging new partnerships, and driving innovation through knowledge-sharing platforms.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn first-hand what leading institutions are doing to build platforms that provide practical solutions for policymakers. By understanding how these platforms are designed to support urban decision-making, attendees will gain insights into how to harness shared knowledge to improve governance and advance urban policies that enhance people's quality of life.

Following a panel discussion with representatives from prominent urban sharing platforms, the session will open up to an interactive discussion with participants, focusing on innovation and impactful, action-oriented collaboration. A closed roundtable for platform representatives will allow for more in-depth exploration of potential collaboration opportunities.

Objectives

This is a unique opportunity to engage with international experts, share insights from cities that have successfully leveraged urban knowledge, and connect with changemakers committed to shaping better urban futures.

Proposed Guiding Questions for the Debate:
- How can these platforms enhance city-to-city cooperation and drive more impactful community engagement?
- How can networks and sharing platforms enable the replicability and scalability of city solutions, and how can we effectively measure their impact?

- What role can these platforms play in advocating for international best practices and influencing policy shifts?

- What future developments can further amplify the positive impact of these platforms on urban governance?
