Bridges of cooperation - In search of the best solutions for sustainable housing and resilient cities

This session embodies the core WUF13 mission by demonstrating how international experience exchange and knowledge sharing are the key to transforming shared challenges into shared solutions for safe and resilient urban communities.

The discussion will facilitate a practical exchange of proven strategies and experiences by the world’s megacities such as Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, Kuala Lumpur, İzmir, enriched by the strategic perspectives of UN-Habitat and UNESCAP.

Participants will share diverse approaches, which may include large-scale housing renovation programs, smart-city technologies, urban security, climate adaptation aspects, and the use of Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) in strategic governance.

The goal is to identify transferable models and approaches that balance technical innovation with social inclusion, treating climate-responsive and adequate housing as a fundamental necessity.

• Building bridges using shared knowledge: transforming unique local experiences into a shared global resource to present transferable strategies and innovations that can be adapted across different contexts to promote sustainable housing.
• Presenting opportunities for partnership: by comparing approaches, the participating cities can identify their strengths and potential areas for joint research or projects, strengthening their collective capacity to build resilient communities.
