The world faces an unprecedented global housing crisis: 2.8 billion live in inadequate housing, over 300 million are homeless. This is worsened by interlinked global challenges, especially climate change and environmental degradation, which erode the safety and resilience of human settlements. In 2023 alone, extreme weather—floods, storms, wildfires—displaced 20 million, deepening housing exclusion and threatening SDG 11. For the urban poor, losing a home sparks cascading hardships: lost livelihoods and reduced access to essential healthcare. To tackle this critical "Climate-Housing Nexus", BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. (BOE) hosts this Networking Event to showcase how digital innovation mitigates environmental impacts on housing. A leading digital firm in intelligent interface products, BOE has pioneered sustainable urban development for decades and partners closely with UN-Habitat China Office. Since 2019, it has been a key member of UN-Habitat China Future Cities Council (CFCC). BOE’s "Housing the World" commitment is backed by a global partnership network. Via CFCC, it develops knowledge products and digital solutions for people-centered, resilient cities. At WUF13, BOE gathers distinguished global partners to share insights and solutions: - Ms. Aline Matta (Head of UNITAC, Senior Programme Management Officer) shares the UN’s strategic perspective on Tech & Urban Governance. - Ms. Livia Schaeffer Nonose (UN-Habitat Technology & Innovation Specialist) presents UN tools for urban recovery, crisis response and climate-smart innovation. - Ms. Aydee Marqueza Marsiglia Bello (Colombia’s Deputy Minister of Housing, City and Territory) outlines national housing strategies and on-site practices. - Dr. Jian WANG (Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering) showcases "City Brain" practices for sustainable urban development. - Ms. Chirine Etezadzadeh (President, Germany’s SmartCity Institute) shares German smart city research and local practices. - Mr. Xiangning LI (Tongji University Vice President, urban architecture expert) offers region-specific Chinese architectural cases for global climate-adapted urban development. - Mr. Feng YUAN (BOE Vice President) introduces tangible tech solutions to ease climate change’s urban impacts. This event is a pivotal platform for stakeholders to exchange expertise and digital transformation experiences, fostering global collaboration for safe, resilient cities for all.
