Summary

Delivering sustainable urban development requires reliable, accessible data, yet policymakers, developers, and investors often face fragmented and difficult-to-use information, limiting their ability to identify land, assess demand, and plan effectively.

This session presents a practical approach to bridging the gap between data production and real-world implementation, centered on the OECD Local Data Portal and its new section on city data. It highlights how territorial and geospatial data can be applied in practice to support land-use planning, guide site selection, and inform investment decisions.

Bringing together perspectives from international organizations, local authorities, and private sector actors, the session will showcase concrete use cases demonstrating how stakeholders use data to define development priorities, identify opportunities, assess risk, and accelerate project delivery."
