This event aims to present and share the experiences and perspectives of the three member countries of the Confederation of Sahel States in the implementation of the Integrated Territorial Approach (ITA) at different scales, in order to address the challenges related to the multidimensional crisis—security, climate, and social—that affects areas impacted by terrorism. First, the presentation will focus on the joint work carried out to develop the Territorial Strategic Action Plan for the Liptako-Gourma cross-border area, as well as the methodology adopted. This strategic tool is intended to support decision-making and guide priority investments for the stabilization and development of a territory that has long been landlocked. Next, the discussion will address the Urban Resilience Action Framework for the municipalities of Tillabéri (Niger), Nioro (Mali), and Kongoussi (Burkina Faso). This framework constitutes a strategic planning instrument at the urban level, designed to strengthen cities’ resilience to crises and improve local governance. It is desirable to extend it to other municipalities within the AES area. Finally, the event will include a sharing of experiences in the implementation of urban interventions aimed at facilitating the socio-economic integration of displaced populations and improving the living conditions of host communities. This experience should be extended to cities in Mali and to other cities in Burkina Faso and Niger. Urban management tools that enabled the development of essential infrastructure, particularly housing, in complex land tenure contexts will also be presented. The event will conclude with an interactive roundtable discussion on partnership prospects for the implementation and scaling up of these tools and approaches, with the active participation of the audience.
