This networking event focuses on quality and secure housing as a strategic entry point to address broader urban challenges. Rather than treating housing as an isolated sector, the event highlights integrated, city-led approaches that connect housing with climate resilience, social inclusion, economic development, and urban governance.Therefore, it is also a networking-focused event, in line with WUF, emphasizing relationship-building, partnership development, and follow-up collaboration.The event has 4 primary objectives: 1)To present concrete urban solutions. from Shanghai Award winning cities that demonstrate how integrated housing policies can deliver safe, inclusive, and resilient urban outcomes. 2) To create direct interaction among cities and partners, enabling peer-to-peer exchange and fostering trust-based collaboration. 3) By introducing the Award as a global platform, to recognize and scale up sustainable urban solutions and to encourage interested cities to apply in future cycles of the Award. 4) To explore collaboration on small-scale, city-led pilot initiatives that can be supported through diverse funding sources and later scaled up. Expected outcomes include: 1)New city-to-city and city-to-partner connections; 2) Identification of potential areas for collaboration;3)Increased awareness and participation in the Global Award;4)Initial discussions on joint pilot projects aligned with sustainable housing and urban development goals. Besides, inclusivity is embedded in both content and participation of the event. The selection of participants will be made according to gender balance, geographic diversity and representation of different city sizes and development contexts. Regarding thematic inclusivity, the housing practices presented may address the needs of vulnerable groups, including low-income households and communities exposed to climate risks. This event will also allow participants beyond the panel to actively engage, ensuring broader participation and exchange. It will contribute to WUF13 by translating global dialogue into city-level action, strengthening international cooperation among cities, expanding a global community of practice on sustainable housing and creating momentum beyond the Forum through follow-up collaboration and pilot initiatives. By linking recognition, networking,and future-oriented collaboration, the event supports WUF13’s broader objective of accelerating progress toward safe and resilient cities and communities.
