How do we rebuild housing and communities for a safer, more inclusive future? This event shares proven practices and governance innovations from post-disaster recovery – offering actionable SDG 11 solutions for cities worldwide.
Against the backdrop of frequent global disasters and crises, building safe, resilient and inclusive cities is a shared challenge for the international community. This networking event responds directly to Dialogue III: “Housing at the Core of Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction”. It explores how to structure the planning framework, technical tools, and implementation pathways for a future-oriented resilient city. The event focuses on housing and community reconstruction under typical disaster scenarios such as earthquakes and floods, bringing together global policymakers, scholars, practitioners, and youth representatives. Through sharing concrete planning cases, technological innovations, and governance experiences from different regions, it aims to provide valuable systemic solutions for cities worldwide – especially those in developing regions facing rapid urbanization and compound risks – and to advance the localization of the New Urban Agenda and SDG 11, fostering a safe, resilient, and inclusive urban future.
